Dan Shafer is a spiritual path coach, teacher, author and lecturer known for his crystal-clear explanations of deep spiritual subjects and his powerful meditations. His most recent book, The Power of I AM: Claiming your inherent power to consciously create a life of purpose, meaning and joy, explores the ways in which what we claim as our truth, both to ourselves and to others, causes the powers of the Universe to align to make that truth a reality. The book also teaches a new approach to meditation, developed over a decade by Shafer and designed to help seekers who have had difficulty in the past learning to meditate or who are seasoned meditators looking for a deeply fresh experience.
A long-time journalist and author, Shafer has written more than 50 published books, most of them about computers and technology. Before turning his attention to spiritual matters, he was one of the best known authors, speakers and software designers in the industry. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years in the newspaper business where he covered everything from sports to business to politics and wrote a column about international affairs.
Shafer presently serves as the volunteer Spiritual Teacher in Residence at Unity of Monterey Bay on California’s Central Coast. In his private practice as a spiritual coach, he supports individual seekers in finding their own spiritual paths and truths based on the principles of the Oneness of All Things, universal love and absolute forgiveness. Among spiritual seekers, he is famous for his slogan, “There’s only one of us here.”
The founder of this online spiritual community has spent the past 20+ years learning and studying a variety of spiritual and religious traditions. He has focused a great deal of energy on his passionate interest in the convergence of modern science and ancient mysticism.
He and his wife of more than 30 years, singer-songwriter CJ, live in Monterey with their buddy Albert Einstein Shafer (a Shiitzu who thinks he’s human), two of their children and one granddaughter. They have seven children and step-children and 11 grandchildren, with one more on the way as of March 2013.
